Hypercycle Jazz

Annabelle’s Home _ Framnesvegur 27 _101 Reykjavik

Opening July 25th 2024 - Closing August 16th 2024

This unique intersection of music and visual art celebrates the beauty of complexity, self-organization, and evolutionary synergy, much like a jazz ensemble creates harmony from individual voices.

At the heart of hypercycle theory on primordial Earth lies the concept of self-sustaining cycles of interconnected processes, each one catalyzing the next. From here this exhibition draws a parallel to the nature of jazz, where each musician’s input enriches the collective soundscape, creating a perpetual loop of innovation and expression. Jazz, much like a hypercycle, is an ecosystem of interaction, feedback, and continuous evolution. Katrin proposes the idea of life being HyperCycleJazz.

In her film Katrin Hahner intertwines a grief ritual for a beloved human together with an intention for our future in the natural world. HyperCycleJazz is a manifesto to re-establish wonder and curiosity.

MINDFULNESS COLLABORATORY
Leading By Intention

We’re curious about the role of contemplative practices, mindfulness, and self-care as a creative leadership tool. Our team of artists, cultural leaders, and meditators came together with the shared purpose of bringing these practices into artistic communities with the goal to build sustainable avenues for self-care at an individual and organizational level that can be tailored to fit communities.

The Mindfulness Collaboratory: Leading by Intention began development in Summer 2022 following a renewal of our grant from the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation. The new program will be launching in February 2023 and will focus on contemplative leaders setting intentions to create resilient artistic communities through individual meditation skill share, collective support, and mindful leadership. Participants will meet periodically over the course of 2023 to learn, meditate, discuss, grow, and lead together.

"We hope to investigate the potential correlation between the cultivation of collective mindfulness with creativity and innovation"
